MOST ANTICIPATED INDIE READS FOR 2020

I don’t look forward for many books. For a book to make me go “ahh, I need this” and consistently feel that all the way up to release date. I’m picky. But, I tried hard to choose more than three books, and here’s my most anticipated Indie reads for 2020!

THE CHRONICLES OF ALICE AND IVY by KELLYN ROTH

Kellyn Roth is relaunching her historical fiction series set in Europe. You can find more info here. I liked the original series but Kellyn has worked super hard at the new editions. They sound even better! If you like historical fiction, historical romance, drama, and pretty settings, be sure to try these out.

THE WARDENS by BRIAN MCBRIDE

Percy Jackson meets Stranger Things and I AM SCREAMING. Goodreads page here, for those who need to add it to their TBR. I own every book Brian has written and y’all, 10/10 would recommend his work. I cannot wait to read his upcoming fantasy novels.

POPPY’S PERIL by ALLISON TEBO.

I had the honor of beta reading this Tales of Ambia story in 2019 and cannot wait for it to be published. Such a cute story. If you haven’t read the Tales of Ambia books The Reluctant Godfather and A Royal Masquerade, check them out! They’re cute, clean, fairy tale retellings for all ages.

THE WWII STANDALONE PROJECT by JESSECA WHEATON

Obviously, her upcoming release is untitled, but I am so excited! Jesseca has an amazing heart in her fiction! I haven’t read all of her works (guys, I am a VERY. SENSITIVE. READER. so I’m prepping myself for the rest of the Questions of War series. HELP ME.) but am definitely on that mission! If you like WWII, cute romance, and lots of heart, check her books out here.

THE SHADOWVERSE by JOHN-CLEMENT GALLO

Yes, this book is published and not releasing in 2020, but it IS releasing in paperback this year. As you probably know, I’m a horrid Kindle reader (I accidentally typed “Kindler”. Can we make that a thing for Kindle readers? Are they Kindlers?) and adore physical copies. Definitely hyped for this bad boy! If you like superhero fiction, give his book a try!

NO CHANCE MEETING by JAYE ELLIOTT

I met Jaye at Realm Makers and she is so sweet, so I have big hopes for this book (my first book by her, since I doubt I read any of her fantasies before then) and… The lead main characters aren’t children? SIGN ME UP for ADULT! ROMANTIC! RELATIONSHIPS! You can find the book here!

THE GRIM ALLIANCE by ANGELA R. WATTS

Last year, I flailed over the upcoming release of THE DIVIDED NATION. Well, today is title reveal for book 2. Say hello to THE GRIM ALLIANCE, The Infidel Books #2! This bad boy releases summer 2020. I’m working on finishing the second draft, polishing it, sent it to betas–you hear it, I’m working super hard to get this baby out into the world. Are you ready? (Hint: no, you aren’t.)

GOLGATHA by ANGELA R. WATTS

What, I can’t list my own books? Sorry, folks, this is my ship. If you like fantasy that doesn’t blur the lines between good and evil, tight brotherhood relationships, diverse casts, a Creator God with surprising mercy, and supernatural/horror elements (think Dekker/Peretti)… GOLGATHA comes out sometime this summer/fall. I’m THRILLED to release my first ever fantasy. Y’all have no idea!

~~~
I have a few more 2020 releases I’m looking forward to, but these are some of the top ones! Don’t worry–I intend to read many Indie books and friends are working super hard on their books. The books not on the list that I wanna read will get their own posts once they hit the shelves! Whoop whoop!
What about YOU? What Indie books are you looking forward to in 2020? Are you publishing anything? Let’s chat!
God bless,
Angela R. Watts
    YESSSS Jesseca’s stories always break me in a million pieces and yes I’m looking forward to the new one. And Jaye Knight’s fantasy is basically the only fantasy I’ve fallen head over heels for and now she’s writing a military story…?? 💙
    *rubs hands together* *squeals* Since I read TDN I’ve managed to get into action/suspense/you name it SO…yeah. My reader skin is definitely thicker now and I must know what happens to our boys…
    my second novel releases this month and i’m dying of nervousness cause it’s a bigger release than i’ve done before but it’s still my baby 💜
      Right? Jesseca is one of the VERY FEW Indie authors who made me cry! ♥
      Oh, my, GOSH, that means so much to me! I am so glad you liked TDN and are excited for TGA.
      That is SO AMAZING! Congrats! I’ve seen it floating around on Goodreads–I’m terrible at adding things to my TBR but I’ll double check that I marked your books! You must be excited.
    FANTASY! 😀
    I must admit, though, I love it when the lines between good and evil are blurred. Not as in the way most people mean when they say that, but when the main characters can’t tell the difference, ’cause it adds a whole new layer of drama, mystery, and suspense. If you’re a Marvel fan, think “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War” as examples of this -nods-
      Dude, yessss. I’m not a fan of the whole “this is a wicked monster BUT!!! he can be good too!” which just… drives me up walls. ;P
      I absolutely adored TWS (CW got on my nerves because of the kinda… forced hand…? don’t get me started)! Bucky period is an interesting character and when he “messed up” so much… oof.
