God Never Changes

Change.

Maybe that word makes us freeze up. Maybe that word is one we try to avoid. Maybe that word is one we hate to think about. Maybe that word is the one we seemingly know all too well.

Change.

So many things change. People change. Places change. Life changes. Sometimes, it seems everything changes, all at once, or like a long line of tumbling dominoes.

What do you do?

When everything seems to ignite in a chaotic mess of questions, messes, and fear. When the horizon is so blurred, you are afraid to look ahead. You can barely seem to make sense of where you are at this very instant. What do you do, when it seems all of the paths ahead are jumbled? Like the spider’s web does the world lay before you.

What do you do?

No one can avoid change. No one can stop it. No one can run from it.

Change isn’t always bad, of course. You have the good changes. You have the change of winter to spring, when the flowers push out from the cool dirt, and greet the blue sky. But for someone who does not like spring, this change is not a good one. It all depends on how you look at it. What will you get if you are dead set on disliking spring? You cannot stop the change of the seasons. Every season is beautiful- but if you are determined to not see the beauty, you will not see it.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

When you’re a Christian, that doesn’t automatically mean when something bad happens, or change happens, you immediately are optimistic and brave. When you’re a Believer, life does not become perfect. You do not become perfect. The difference is, you trust in Yahweh. That He has a plan, better than yours. That He is Greater than any change you fear. When you have faith in the Lord,  you understand that you still do have a choice. You can choose to be brave and have faith, and see the beauty. Or, you can make the choice to refuse to see the beauty.

Change can be beautiful. Change can be scary. The very thing about change is that it’s new. People don’t always like what is new to them. What’s unknown.

What do we do?

Well, there is One who never, ever changes.

Yahweh.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” – Hebrews 13:8

The Lord does not change.

While we are stumbling on our path, blinded, lost, crying, confused- the Lord is there. Nothing can catch Him by surprise. Nothing can stop His Plan. Jesus Christ Messiah has already won, at the Calvary. Though our feet may stumble, He is the Light on our path (Psalms 119:105)!

When change stares us in the face, rocks our boat, and makes the sea boil and rise- we must know to whom we belong. We belong to Messiah. Jehovah Lord. It is He who knows our path.. It is the Creator and Savior of this world that we were in the hands of.

Why should we be afraid?

We must remember that change is nothing new to the Lord. Look at Jesus’ life. He traveled place to place. He was mocked, ridiculed. . He had a family, parents, siblings. He had his friend betray him. He was arrested. Jesus was prosecuted. If anyone knows about changes, good and bad, I think it would be Messiah. As Christians, we are called to follow in Yeshua’s example (1 Peter 2:21). Yeshua was without sin- He did not sin when these things happened to Him. We are human- we sin. But by Yeshua’s sacrifice, by His blood, we are forgiven: our crimson stains are white as wool. So, while we cannot go through life without sin- we can follow Yeshua’s example.

Through change, let our praise be loud to the Lord most high! Through change, good and bad, let us sing a song of glory to the One who Loves us most. Through change, good and bad, let us remember who Loves us. Who knows the Way. Who will not forsake us. Who hears our every whisper, cry, and song.

Change is not a bad thing. Change is what makes us grow, learn, and see. Change is what builds us. And if change shatters our hearts and scrapes our hands- then we must make the choice to look to God, to pray that He builds us as HE wills us to be, with the pain and confusing times and scars. That through the storms, we still have a thankful heart. By being thankful for the good and the bad, we are doing as God wills.  When we look at our scars, let us remember that our Messiah bears the scars of His Sacrifice as a reminder, also.

Every trial, every triumph- I pray that the Lord is with me. That through it all, I come out of each season with love in my heart.  That I come out of each season how the Lord wants me to be. I pray that through it all, I can glorify Him. Praise Him. Help others see His Light.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;  Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.  There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.  The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. -Psalm 46:1-7

At this time of my life, there is a lot of change going on. There’s a path ahead that God is leading us to- but it is unknown to us. I am excited for it, for the opportunities, the beauty- but it is unknown. It is a huge step. But I have faith in God to guide us and love us, no matter what happens.

Life is a journey. We do not have to always see the path ahead. We do have to have faith in the Lord, and trust Him. Follow Him. Through change and all. Because Yahweh never changes. And we can be sure He has our backs.

Revelation 1:8 – I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

YHVH bless.

beautiful truth. it’s something that’s been speaking to me a lot lately. soon I’ll be coming up to a time of a lot of change in my life, and that fact that God doesn’t change is an anchor. He’s not limited by time, He’s beyond time — like the psalmist says, the knowledge that God cares for us is so high that I cannot attain it.
