Today, I am very excited to be taking part of of Jesseca Wheaton’s blog tour, for her amazing book A Question Of Honor. This book is…. seriously amazing. I want to scream about it and I really love it to bits. So, let’s get this party started!
About the Book:

A Question of Honor is an astounding novel.
When it comes to a lot of historical fiction books based on WWII…. They seem to be lacking something. Or trying to force too much. It’s almost like, they are aware of the evils- but they do not bring it to life. It almost seems that they don’t remember that through the darkness, there was still a Light in humans. Many books are just missing something to me…. They don’t bring the story to life, don’t show the truth- just the horror, like the horror took over every human being and we all lost our heads and hearts during WWII. But this isn’t the truth. And A Question of Honor showed the truth.
Going into this book, I was definitely excited for a WWII story! A Question of Honor had me hooked by page ten. Seriously. Like, hooked. Not just ‘hey, this is cool’- but I didn’t want to stop reading (food? But if I eat I have to take my eyes off the page and NO CAN DO, PAL).
The story of A Question of Honor is very interesting. It had me asking questions, had me expecting things, had me thinking. I LOVE books that make me think. The story was well-thought out (nothing happened for no reason) and realistic.
We were not just shown the evil in this book. We were shown WWII from a different perspective- maybe even a POV folks forget about. A good amount of AQOH is from a pilot’s perspective. It is crazy how much the view of a war can change between a soldier on the ground, than a soldier in the air. It was compelling for me to read a WWII story from a pilot’s view- because my older brother Ryan is an Army pilot (but he flies helicopters, while AQOH’s characters fly planes). I enjoyed a story from the air view!
So, in a different perspective, things changed quite a bit. But the evil of WWII was still present in this book- but what I loved about this novel is, the dark didn’t cloud over completely. We were shown the hope. The humanity. We were shown the pain, heartache, and horrors. But we were shown the abounding love, the hope, and the heart. This is what I think we forget, when we look back on the horrific time of the holocaust. By the mercy of God- there were still people who kept their humanity. Their empathy. Their Love. They didn’t forget GOD. That’s what I loved, oh so loved, about A Question of Honor. It handled WWII in such a graceful, realistic way. It kept God in the picture. In WWII, the world was clouded by the darkness. But we cannot forget the truth. The Light pierced it.
The truthful lessons in this book, brought God and the Bible into clear play. And at the right timings. This book taught me things, it brought questions and truths to me I hadn’t even thought about. It was amazing. Yahweh was the center of this book- and it portrayed how God can use any of us to speak His Truth. I loved how the characters didn’t leave God behind, I love how even in a WWII novel, the Light was still shown.
The writing style was so sweet to me. It was clear and concise, it brought the story to life in an intriguing, lovely way. I really loved it. It all flowed very well together! Nothing seemed out of place. The different POVs gave a brilliant, striking perspective to the story, which really had you interested, asking questions, and caring about what happened. It was amazing.
The characters were all so, so realistic. I found myself laughing at the characters, feeling empathetic and protective, and also, very worried for them. The characters all acted within reason; as in, nothing was unrealistically or annoyingly spontaneous or out of character. Very well done. All the characters were very unique and individual, and everyone was just so VIVID. And REAL. I cannot stop rambling about them so I’ll try to hush now. BUT DID I MENTION HOW GREAT THEY WERE?! The characters are unforgettable.
My favorite characters were probably Gil, or Micah. Micah was amazing. And Joy, of course, was such a sweetie. I seriously loved all of the characters, I cannot choose. However, what really, really struck me in this book…. Was Erich. Now, usually, I am not one for ‘gray’ lines. Good is good, evil is evil. And then we had Erich. Erich brought such a different perspective to the table…. And I thought it was eerily lifelike. His story, or what we saw of it, just grounded me.
I loved this book. Everything worked so well. The book was well paced, funny, and heartbreaking. And, here’s my huge thing…. A Question of Honor made me cry. Cry. But I shan’t tell you for which reasons. But I will tell you it takes a lot to make me cry with books. So, automatically, that makes this book amazing! I am very excited for the next book in this incredible series. Super, super thrilled. Don’t get me started. I want to see what happens to these incredible characters. I want to learn more. I want to hug all of them can I do that?
Seriously, this book is very dear to my heart.

I cannot say enough about this book, this story, everything…. but I can definitely recommend it to everyone I know! Any age, anyone. I really want someone to talk about it with. ;D Speaking of which…

YES!!! This is the best book ever. <3 It broke my heart and taught me things and made me laugh and cry and I just … I don't even have words for it! I have to write a review for it today … and I have no idea how! The characters are all so amazing … I told Jesseca when I first met Gil before we knew anything about him that I wanted to marry him. Of course, I couldn't 'cause of Lilly (and … him being a fictional character … that, too …), but he's … he's so awesome. Honestly, I hope God sends me a guy like Gil someday. 😛
Agreed, definitely! 😀 Yes, there are only a handful of books/authors that can make me laugh, cry, and clap all in one package! This book stole the cake. 😉
