So! Today was Christmas Eve. And it was a great one, for my family and I. We started pulling this evening’s ‘feast’ things together, and then Steven came over. Meesha’s friend; but all of our’s friend really. 🙂 He brought some Studio Ghibli! “Spirited Away”, “My Neighbor Toroto”, and “Ponyo.” So we watched all 3 movies today; and I enjoyed them. 🙂 They’re all by the same writer and director; Hayao Miyazaki. And while MNT and Ponyo were pretty fun, my favorite was Spirited Away.
Spirited Away was about a 10 year old girl and her parents accidentally entering the spirit world and long story short the parents get turned into pigs. (yeah). So the girl- Chihiro – runs around the city (best way for me to explain it…) and then she nearly gets in big trouble but this boy saves her; Haku. And he gives her instructions on how to survive in her situation and not get in trouble, since she’s human in the supernatural resort. Yeah, resort. It’s a bath place, run by a witch, etc… Long story. But it was actually pretty good. Then there’s No Face; and he was funny. Meesha and Steven kept making fun of how he talked but I actually liked it; then he ate people and I guess he took on the personality of the person. Which explained a lot. And when Chihiro- or Sen, as her name was changed and the people knew her as but she had to remember her name long story once more- made him throw up all the food, and people, he went back to himself. (actually this scene with No Face throwing up everything, my Grandma was watching. She sat there, expression priceless, mouth open, hand covering it, for minutes. We all asked “Grandma” getting no reaction I kid not)
Luckily Chihiro stopped her spoiled bratness.
But my favorite character was Haku; I liked him the moment I saw him. And I was not happy when he was in dragon form and was dying; that sucked. But luckily Chihiro saved him, etc.
So that was a good watch to me. 🙂 But jeez; after Haku gave her PRECISE instructions; what does she do? Doesn’t listen. Then stuff happens and they meet again and he’s just so done you can see it vaguely and she tries to talk but he literally said ”don’t talk to me” and I was like ”I feel ya.” But I seriously remember hearing his dubbed voice actor and it’s driving me insane because I know him I am pretty sure I’ve heard him in some other anime.
And then we all ate. All of us. It was great. I almost regret eating 6+ chocolate chip cookies- almost.
I too pictures of the day as well… But my Internet sucks. Lately it really hates me. Ugh. -.- So I’ll try to post them when possible. 🙁
