Welcome to my second and last post for Allison Tebo’s blog tour launch for The Reluctant Godfather! I have a character interview with Prince Colin (EEP!!) to share with y’all today, so let’s get hopping!
~~~
SYNOPSIS
A humorous and magical re-telling of Cinderella from a unique perspective.
Burndee is a young and cantankerous fairy godfather who would rather bake cakes than help humans. A disgrace to the fairy order, Burndee has only two wards entrusted to his care…a cinder girl and a charming prince.
A royal ball presents Burndee with the brilliant solution of how to make his wards happy with the least amount of effort. He’ll arrange a meeting and hope the two fall in love.
The debut novella from Allison Tebo, ‘The Reluctant Godfather’ is a new addition to the charming fairy tale tradition of Cameron Dokey and K.M. Shea.
INTERVIEW WITH COLIN!
Greetings, Prince Colin, and welcome to The Peculiar Messenger. Thanks for coming!
Hello Miss Angela. A friend told me an interview is similar to the royal process of receiving the populace in a public session. *flashes a charming smile* I hope I do it right! You’ll tell me if I get anything wrong, won’t you? *winks*
I’m sure you’ll do just fine! Let’s get started. 🙂 What is the ‘best’ day of your life, thus far?
Hmm – that’s rather a difficult question. Either the day Cynthia said she would be my wife or the day she told me we were going to have a child. *beams* I can’t choose between those days. Can I count both of them as one?
I think those both count. 😉 What would you do if you could wear a mask and pretend to be someone else for a day (no one would know it was you)?
Pfft – easy question. I would pretend to be Burndee, obviously! Ahh, what a time I would have. First of all, I would insult everyone on the Fairy Council, especially Fey. Then I would go to The Magic Pumpkin bakery and announce that everything was half price and everyone’s dog gets a free cookie (Burndee doesn’t like animals, you know). Hang on a minute. *opens notebook* These really aren’t such bad ideas . . .
What was one of your childhood fears, and do you still have it?
Well, I . . . *fiddles with his collar* I was always rather afraid that people weren’t really paying attention to me, or didn’t really care what I was talking about—they only pretended to pay attention because I was royal. It makes me feel like half a person, like a ghost—as if I’m not really there. I was afraid of being ignored or placated. I still hate that.
What is some advice you’d give young lovers? (Be brutally honest, haha!)
Make sure you marry your best friend. I was a fool not to realize Cynthia was the woman for me sooner than I did. I think you young people call it “friend zoning” in your social circles. That is a terrible error. I consider myself very blessed indeed to realize before it was too late that my best friend was also the woman I wanted to marry.
Quick! You have a magical power! What is it, and what are you doing with it?
An intriguing concept! I would choose invisibility. First off, I’d tickle my father for an hour. Then I’d go to Burndee’s bakery and juggle his pastries in front of him. Ha – wouldn’t his eyes pop out of his head! Then I’d pull Ella’s hair and, eh, probably not much else. Not if I want Burndee to be speaking to me afterwards . . .
Then I’d risk life and limb and find my wife in her laboratory, where I would rearrange all of her equipment every time her back was turned. *chortles*
Then I’d spy on my kitchen staff—I have a bet with the captain of the guard that our chef doesn’t wear her hair net when she’s cooking and I intend to win that bet and prove that she doesn’t wear a hair net. I’ve swallowed the hairs to prove it.
Last of all, I’d eavesdrop on my councilors to hear what they’re saying about me and then surprise them all the next morning during an advisory session. I’ll casually drop some comments from their supposedly clandestine conversations and watch them turn white.
Ah me, I would truly enjoy being invisible. Angela, could you please maybe talk to Burndee for me and convince him to grant me invisibility for the day? What do you say, dear?
I could talk to Burndee, but perhaps it would be best to ask him for such a wish without pretending to be him and causing havoc at The Magic Pumpkin. 😉 Thanks for being here, Prince Colin! *curtsies*
Thank you for having me, Miss Angela. It’s been a pleasure speaking with you.
What a lovely interview! Though… It might cause trouble. 😉 I hope you all have a lovely time with the blog tour — it is FABULOUS!
God bless,
– Ang
